Senior Assistive Technology – Home and Personal Monitoring
The monitoring systems SCSC would recommend are non-invasive and non intrusive. They are designed to provide information that enables caregivers, family and the extended medical and health “team” to evaluate any changes in “normal” activity patterns.
Several examples:
- If the front door were to be opened at 2:00 AM
- If the stove has been on for more than an hour
- If the refrigerator has not been opened all morning
- If the motion sensor has not detected any movement in a defined time period
- If the temperature in the home is too low or too high
- If water were to be flooding on to the bathroom floor
- If a meal was missed get
- If the bathroom was not used
- If there is a change in sleep patterns
Then a call would be initiated to the prioritized referral list: caregivers, neighbors, SCSC , home health agency, or designated family members. Others sensors can also turn on hallway lights at night.
